Asynchronous reading comprehension

Instructors upload the reading materials to Comprehension tool, then annotate the themes and questions for students to identify and respond to. Students read the text and identify the sections that relate to the listed themes, annotate these relevant passages and optionally summarize multiple annotations.

Clarification session

The annotations made by students are used to fuel an in-class discussion. This is where instructors clarify the most common misconceptions and questions emerged during the previous activity, while students engage in discussion with peers on the reading.

Self reflection

Students reflect on the reading comprehension process: how they annotate the reading and how the activity helped them understand the text. This activity helps to develop self-regulatory learning and critical reflection.
