Self Assessment

Multilevel assessment to stimulate deeper learning

In this activity

Student reflection and assessment of their own abilities is crucial to their development. When students self-assess they are able to identify the discrepancies between their current and desired performance. Allowing them to better set goals, and engage in strong self-regulatory processes.

In this activity:

Guided Learning Experience: The goal is to give students a scaffolded learning experience. As an educator, you can provide guiding instructions throughout the activity and attach criteria that students should anchor their assessment to. Providing several of these low-stake moments throughout a course may help keep students engaged and familiarize themselves with the assessment criteria, leaving them ready for high-stake moments.

Monitoring Performance: If your goal is to create moments throughout the course where students reflect, monitor their performance, and self-assess either more openly or on a specific set of criteria, this template is a great starting point.
