Ahead of the curve: how two European universities are rethinking online learning

Building online courses that genuinely engage students takes more than moving content onto a screen. In this live panel, Dr. Neil Greenley from Hertfordshire Business School and Dr. Konstantinos Samiotis from the American University of Greece join host Luke McClelland to share how they got there. Dr. Greenley rebuilt a Global Executive MBA from fewer than 10 student interactions per module to 86. Dr. Samiotis built a fully asynchronous MBA with active learning designed in before the first cohort ever enrolled. Alongside their stories, we'll take a live look at how FeedbackFruits supported both programmes and what the engagement data showed.

Personalizing Growth: Shifting to Competency-Based Education with FeedbackFruits

As more and more students express dissatisfaction with “one-size-fits-all” learning, higher education is at a turning point to find more inclusive and authentic approaches. Competency-based education (CBE) has been identified as an effective model for establishing a personalized, skill-oriented curriculum that emphasizes lifelong learning and mastery of essential skills for the workplace.

However, implementing CBE can be a challenging process, both due to a lack of standards for defining competencies and to technical limitations on scaling the process to large student cohorts, such as difficulties with combining and accessing learner analytics, insufficient configurability of learning tracks and rubrics, and the prioritization of age-based, rather than mastery-based cohorts.

Join this webinar to explore the fundamentals and best practices of CBE and learn how Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus University (RSM) and FeedbackFruits co-developed Competency-Based Assessment, a flexible pedagogical solution to empower a smooth implementation of CBE in higher education.

Nurturing student satisfaction through personalised assessment and feedback

Student well-being and a sense of agency are crucial to maintaining motivation and retention. Despite that, students in the UK and Ireland make it clear that their voices are not being heard. With faculties struggling to address emerging student concerns in time on top of their already heavy workload, there is a clear need for more personalised, student-centred assessment and learning practices that can both free instructors’ time and boost student satisfaction.

Join this webinar to dive deeper into the FeedbackFruits solutions and learn how Imperial College London and the University of Bath used FeedbackFruits to drive an institutional assessment and feedback transformation that saved faculties’ time and enriched the student experience.

Enhancing the learning and assessment experience with FeedbackFruits

Student dissatisfaction with feedback and assessment is one of the leading concerns in ensuring high-quality learning and teaching in the UK and Ireland. Relying on passive modes of assessment causes a deep disconnect between skills needed for the future versus the skills being assessed. To bridge this gap, it is necessary that educators adopt diverse and authentic assessment methods, but how can institutions implement them effectively?

Jisc recently partnered with FeedbackFruits to better address educational challenges as such and continue supporting higher and further education institutions in the region. With a tool suite of 15 VLE-integrated solutions, FeedbackFruits helps educators streamline the (peer) feedback processes, facilitate authentic assessment, and encourage collaboration in any setting.

Join the webinar to learn how FeedbackFruits can help your institution efficiently scale feedback and assessment processes and enrich the student experience.

Growing Student Success Through Learner-Centered Course Design

Fostering student success is paramount to achieving learning outcomes and student progression. Establishing rapport with students, instilling them with knowledge and expertise while guiding them through the learning experience is what faculty do best. Beyond this, what are additional ways an instructor can ensure the academic success of their students? Whatever measures are taken, they have to be sustainable for the instructor and effective – time is in too short of supply.

In this webinar, Associate Director of Learning Systems Support at Central Michigan University Marnie Roestel will showcase practical ways to help ensure the success of your students and foster engagement – all through the lens of a learner-centric course.

How to facilitate effective group work at business schools

Preparing students to thrive in the business world by equipping them with cross-functional skills such as leadership, collaboration and communication lies at the heart of business education. Development of these skills relies heavily on maintaining an effective feedback loop among students, ensuring group accountability, and facilitating in-class discussions. However, this can be challenging as instructors often find themselves facing pedagogical problems such as free-riding in group work, low feedback quality, result-oriented assessment or learner disengagement.

This 45-min webinar aims to gather teachers and instructional designers from business schools in a panel discussion to share and exchange ideas on improving group dynamics and social loafing in team based education.
