Start using this template

Activity steps

  1. Read instructions: Students review the activity guidelines and learning objectives to understand the task requirements.
  2. Open document: Students open the interactive document to find their assigned pair's section. 
  3. Record sentences: Students click on the discussion thread, and record a short audio of the sentence, stressing different words to convey varying meanings.
  4. Peer feedback: After submitting their recordings, students listen to their classmates’ sentences and provide constructive comments within the discussion thread of the interactive document. 
  5. Grading: Students are given a grade for replying to at least 2 discussion threads.

Activity goals

This activity helps facilitate a flipped classroom approach to your teaching. When student engage with material prior to class there are several benefits:

In this activity

  • The primary focus of the activity is practicing sentence stress, but the concept can be adapted to other relevant topics using recordings in interactive document discussion threads.
  • Students are organized into pairs to complete the activity, though this grouping can be adjusted to suit your class size or structure.
  • Anonymity is disabled, so students can see who commented on their recordings; this setting can be changed if needed.
  • Grading is based on students replying to at least two peer recordings within the discussion threads, but this requirement can be modified according to course needs.
